Thematic Areas / Key Programs and Initiatives

1. Education: YAWAN promotes access to quality education for marginalized populations, recognizing education as a basic human right and a foundation for empowerment and social progress.
2. Emergency Response: The organization responds swiftly in times of crisis by mobilizing resources and delivering life-saving support to affected communities, ensuring safety and well-being.
3. Protection: YAWAN advocates for the protection of vulnerable individuals—particularly women, youth, and children—through policies and programs that address exploitation, abuse, and discrimination.
4. Peacebuilding: Through dialogue facilitation, conflict resolution training, and reconciliation efforts, YAWAN fosters social cohesion and empowers communities to address conflict constructively and nonviolently.
5. Gender Equality and Gender-Based Violence (GBV): YAWAN combats GBV and champions gender equality by raising awareness, supporting survivors, promoting policy change, and creating safe spaces for women and girls.
6. Food Security and Livelihoods (FSL): To reduce poverty and hunger, YAWAN supports sustainable agricultural practices and entrepreneurship, enabling households to increase productivity and economic resilience.
7. Climate Change and Resilience: YAWAN empowers communities to adapt to climate-related risks through environmental education, ecosystem-based strategies, and the development of early warning systems.
8. Women and Youth Empowerment: The organization builds the capacity of women and youth through vocational training, leadership development, and inclusive decision-making to enhance their roles in society.
9. Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS): YAWAN addresses trauma and mental health challenges resulting from conflict and displacement by providing psychosocial support and promoting community healing.
