Projects/Activities
YAWAN has delivered impactful projects with tangible outcomes:
1. Trauma Awareness Sessions Targeting Host and Returnees’ Communities in Rubkona County, Bentiu Unity State (2024–2025):
(Implemented by YAWAN in collaboration with Shejeh Salam, funded by USAID)
Delivered four 5-day trauma awareness trainings to 140 participants (host and returnee communities.
Conducted four 2-day trauma awareness sessions for 200 local leaders, with 100 women leaders trained.
Established a network of 45 trained community-based trauma counselors, including women and persons with special needs.
Provided a 6-day intensive training in basic counselling and Psychological First Aid (PFA) to all trauma counselors.
Strengthened community resilience and supported future peaceful dialogues by increasing trauma awareness and creating local trauma support systems.

2. Skills Development in Upper Nile State (2022):
Partnered with UNMISS to train 150 women and youth in savings and loan group management and energy-saving stove production, benefiting over 300 additional households.
Trainees also received marketing and entrepreneurship training to boost local business potential.
Community trained on social cohesion, peaceful co-existence and trauma awareness and healing in Panyikang County Upper Nile State.
3. Solar Light Training and Repairs in Malakal PoC (2018):
(The project was implemented by YAWAN with funding from USIAD)
Collaborated with VISTAS/USAID/Aecom International to train 40 youth in solar light maintenance.
Resulted in the repair of 27 solar units per trainee, enhancing safety and reducing GBV within the PoC for vulnerable community in PoC and Malakal Town.
